Planning and development consultancy Pegasus Group has joined Belmont Estate as a sustainability partner. The partnership supports carbon removal, nature recovery, and community projects through the estate’s Nature Connection program, which has welcomed over 16,000 people since its launch. Belmont recently expanded its historic landholding with a 133-acre purchase.
Pegasus will fund the removal of 325 tons of carbon annually. Of this, 162 tons will support peatland restoration in Scotland, while 163 tons will contribute to an international project at Mt. Elgon.
Funding nature recovery and community work
The collaboration also funds 60 Nature Recovery Units at Belmont, covering 540 square meters of land secured by conservation covenant. This includes 220 hours of community nature connection work and 40 volunteering days for Pegasus staff. An additional 150 trees will be planted at Aberarder, Belmont’s landscape-scale nature recovery project in the Scottish Highlands.
Pegasus’s role and commitment
Henry Rossiter, business development director at Belmont Estate, said: “Pegasus spend their working days advising on ecology and biodiversity net gain for other people’s land.

Time on a site that’s actually recovering gives that work some grounding. We’re delighted to have Pegasus as a partner.”
Jonathan Rainery, deputy chief executive at Pegasus Group, described the partnership as “more than offsetting our CO2 emissions,” adding that it provides an opportunity to “support and learn from an innovative nature recovery program.” Tom Rothero, biodiversity & ecology head at Pegasus Group, said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to “helping create places that work for people and nature.”
