TenTrade appoints Wilfred Obasi as Africa head

TenTrade has appointed Wilfred Obasi as its Regional Director for Africa, placing him in charge of the broker’s commercial operations across the continent. The appointment fills a vacancy left by Victor Ufot and comes as the Seychelles-based broker seeks to strengthen its presence in a key growth market. Obasi brings over a decade of experience in financial markets, having spent thirteen years at Exinity where he served as a Partner Enablement Manager in the company’s Dubai office. His previous work focused on client acquisition and business development within the FX and CFD sectors, with an emphasis on African markets.

Obasi will oversee revenue growth, client acquisition, and product expansion for TenTrade in Africa. His responsibilities include adapting the broker’s contracts for difference and proprietary trading offerings to better suit the region. According to the broker, Obasi’s understanding of local and regional market conditions will be essential for shaping its expansion strategy in Africa.

“My primary focus will naturally be on deepening relationships with our partners and brokers here,” Obasi said. Andreas Andreou, TenTrade’s Chief Revenue Officer, noted that the new director’s background provides a solid foundation for the company’s goals in the region.

Leadership changes at the top often signal a shift in strategy, and TenTrade’s recent hiring patterns suggest a deliberate push to consolidate its position in Africa. The broker has been active in securing senior commercial talent, including Andreou, who joined the company earlier this year after roles at INGOT Brokers and BDSwiss. This leadership turnover appears to be part of a broader effort to align the company’s commercial structure with its expansion plans.

Strategic Moves and Market Recognition

While Obasi focuses on operational leadership, TenTrade has also moved to boost its profile through high-profile partnerships. The broker signed former Portugal footballer Luis Figo as a global brand ambassador in April, a deal that leverages the player’s association with the number 10 jersey. Earlier in the year, TenTrade was recognized at the Trading Awards Africa 2026, where it was named the Fastest Growing Broker in a public vote.

Obasi’s role adds a regional leadership layer to this push, with Africa positioned as one of the broker’s priority markets for the current year. His transition from Exinity to TenTrade highlights the competitive nature of the African financial setting, where brokers are actively seeking talent with established networks. Stablecoin regulations have also become a significant factor for global brokers looking to enter the region.
